Same Old, Same Old From Redford

EDMONTON, AB (October 4, 2011): Premier-designate Alison Redford’s first two caucus appointments are the strongest indication yet that she has no intentions of changing the way government is run, the Wildrose Caucus said today.

Redford today re-appointed Doug Horner to the Deputy Premier post and re-appointed Dave Hancock as the Government House Leader.

“Mr. Horner was Ed Stelmach’s right hand man and Mr. Hancock presided over a Legislature that routinely shut down debate on issues of critical importance,” Wildrose Leader Danielle Smith said. “For someone who campaigned hard on change, Ms. Redford has so far demonstrated none of it.”

Wildrose House Leader Rob Anderson said Redford’s first three days have been a major disappointment.

“I’m actually surprised at how fast she’s gone back on her theme of change,” Anderson said. “She’s broken her commitment on fixed election dates, flip-flopped on start of the Legislative session, promised hundreds of millions in new spending without a mandate and now she’s re-appointing senior officials from the Ed Stelmach and Joe Clark eras. Change indeed.”

The Wildrose Caucus stands for free enterprise, less government, increased personal freedom and democracy.
