Wildrose Alliance requests members' services committee get back to work

Paul Hinman, MLA for Calgary-Glenmore, expressed his disappointment that the Member Services Committee adjourned on Monday afternoon without voting on a motion that would have seen the Wildrose Alliance Caucus provided with the same caucus funding for research and communications that is provided to the NDP Caucus.

“It is extremely important as an opposition caucus that we have the tools necessary to hold the Government accountable and to provide well researched policy alternatives to the people of Alberta,” said Hinman. “We ask that the speaker immediately call another Members’ Services Committee meeting so we can finish the debate and vote on this important democratic issue.”

“Members are paid $1000 per month to sit on this committee – the least we can do is meet until all matters are adequately discussed and voted on,” said Rob Anderson, MLA for Airdrie-Chestermere. “Since we were originally scheduled to sit in the Legislature until June, I would assume committee members could find some time in their busy schedules to make sure the debate and vote is held on this issue.”
